Police Launch Manhunt After 11 Killed in Nasarawa Clash

The Nasarawa State Police Command has initiated a manhunt in response to a deadly communal clash in the Udeg development area of Nasarawa Local Government Area, which resulted in the deaths of no fewer than 11 individuals. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of the day, involved alleged hoodlums and is believed to be a reprisal following the reported killing of two individuals.

Reports indicate that approximately 50 houses were set ablaze in Akyawa, with two other structures destroyed in Udeg Kasa. The State Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro, visited the affected communities on Friday, April 3, to sympathize with the victims and assess the extent of the damage caused by the violence.

The police command expressed condolences to the bereaved families and reassured residents of their commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice. To restore peace, the Commissioner ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams and investigative units to apprehend those involved, while urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies.
