Seven Dead, 60 Injured in Ogun and Kano Road Crashes

On April 18, 2026, a fatal road crash in Ogun State resulted in three deaths and seven injuries. The incident occurred around 5:40 PM on the Onipepey axis of the Abeokuta-Sagamu route, involving a Sino truck and an Opel passenger car.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that the probable cause was speed violation and loss of control. The injured were evacuated to a state hospital in Ijaye for urgent medical treatment, while the deceased were deposited at the hospital's mortuary.

In Kano State, two separate crashes occurred on Friday and Saturday, claiming four lives and injuring 53 others. The first crash involved a DAF trailer and a passenger vehicle, resulting in 33 injuries.

The second crash also involved a DAF trailer, leading to 20 injuries. FRSC officials expressed concern over repeated safety violations and urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and ensure proper vehicle maintenance.
