Young Golfer Toluawalash Balogun Wins Golf for Peace

Toluawalash Balogun, an 11-year-old golfer, was recognized as the overall ladies' winner at the 2026 Golf for Peace tournament, which took place at Ikoyi Club 1938. Balogun achieved a gross score of 90 with a handicap of 24, resulting in a net score of 66.

The tournament featured 120 players from various clubs across Nigeria, including IBB International Golf Country Club and Cross Creek Golf Club. Abiodun Adesina claimed the overall men's title with a gross score of 90 and a handicap of 26, yielding a net score of 70.

Kemi Olowoyo Otegbad, who initiated the tournament, emphasized its purpose of fostering friendly competition and promoting dialogue through sports. The event also featured categories for men, ladies, longest drive, nearest pin, and veterans.

The chairman of the planning committee, Abimbola Ajinibi, highlighted the tournament's role in addressing insecurity and unrest in Nigeria through peaceful means. Balogun expressed her enjoyment of the game and the connections made through golf.
