12 Dead, 14 Injured in Edo Auto Crash on Benin-Auchi Road

On Wednesday, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that a severe auto crash in Edo led to the deaths of 12 individuals and injuries to 14 others. The accident took place near Ewu along the Benin-Auchi-Lokoja road.

According to FRSC spokesperson Patricia Onwochei, the crash was caused by wrong overtaking, which resulted in a truck skidding off the road. The vehicle was reportedly traveling at high speed and overtook another vehicle before losing control.

Among the 37 passengers involved in the accident, 12 were confirmed dead, and 14 sustained various degrees of injuries. The deceased were taken to the St.

Lazarus Hospital mortuary, while those injured received medical attention. Onwochei emphasized the dangers of reckless driving and the need for adherence to road safety regulations to prevent such tragedies.
