12 Dead in Edo State Truck Accident on Auchi-Ewu Road

On a tragic day in Edo State, a severe road accident occurred on the Auchi-Ewu-Benin road, claiming the lives of 12 individuals and injuring 14 others. The incident took place in the Egono community when a truck, reportedly carrying goods and passengers, skidded off the road and overturned.

According to Patricia Onwochei, the spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Edo State, the crash was attributed to wrong overtaking maneuvers combined with high speed. At the time of the accident, there were 37 passengers onboard the truck.

The impact of the crash was severe due to the mixed load of passengers and goods. Following the incident, 11 bodies were deposited at the mortuary, highlighting the tragic consequences of road safety violations in the region.
