13-Year-Old Herder Killed by Security Operatives in Plateau

Abubakar Sadi, a 13-year-old herder, was allegedly killed by security operatives in Dakun community, located in the Riyom local government area of Plateau state. The incident occurred between 1 PM and 2 PM while he was grazing.

Alhaji Bello Adamu, the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Riyom, confirmed the killing. Community leader Ibrahim Chiroma stated that they were in a peace meeting when they heard gunshots and found DSS personnel dispersing herders.

Chiroma reported that the DSS denied involvement when contacted after the corpse was recovered. Sanusi Auwal, the victim's brother, described the killing as brutal, asserting that Abubakar was engaged in lawful grazing without provocation.

Both local and federal governments are being called upon for assistance and justice. The DSS and the spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace have denied knowledge of the incident but have committed to investigating the matter.
