Two Herders Killed in Plateau State Attack
On August 14, 2026, two herders were killed in Plateau State, Nigeria. Sani Ibrahim, aged 18, was ambushed while grazing cattle in Kpachuku, Jebbu Bassa Local Government Area.
Asma’u Salihu, aged 15, was attacked at home during a gunman invasion. Muhammad Salihu Isa, the State Secretary of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), condemned the killings, describing them as barbaric and unacceptable.
He noted that the association has lost many herders and cattle to such attacks and called for calm among members. Salihu Isa, the father of Asma’u, recounted that the gunmen opened fire shortly after the last prayer of the day, resulting in his daughter's death and injuries to his son.
He reported the incident to security agencies. The spokesperson for Operation Enduring Peace, Captain Polycarp Oteh, did not respond to inquiries regarding the incident.
