Sezuo, 14, Wins Nigeria Women’s Top 12 Table Tennis Title

Sezuo, a 14-year-old table tennis prodigy, emerged victorious at the inaugural Nigeria Women’s Top 12 Table Tennis Championship held at Not Bad Sport Arena in Egbeda, Lagos, on June 26-27. She defeated experienced player Hussain Halimat from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps with a score of 4-3 in a pulsating final.

Sezuo's performance throughout the two-day event was remarkable, as she maintained a lead in three games and secured victory in a decisive seventh game. Her triumph earned her a winner's prize of N250,000, while Halimat received N150,000 as the runner-up.

The championship, which featured only female players, was co-organized by Not Bad Sport Arena and the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, with a total prize pool of N3 million. Sezuo, who previously represented Nigeria in international youth events, expressed that winning the tournament significantly boosted her confidence and aspirations to become a professional table tennis player.

The event was noted as a pivotal moment for women's table tennis in Nigeria.
