150 FCT Journalists Enroll in Health Insurance Scheme

On a significant day for media professionals in Nigeria, 150 journalists from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) enrolled in a health insurance scheme designed to enhance their access to quality healthcare. The initiative was launched in Abuja by Comrade Grace Ik, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, who described it as a historic milestone for the council.

The scheme aims to prioritize the welfare of journalists, who often serve as the first responders in national discourse. Dr.

Adedolapo Fasaw, from the FCT Health Services Environment Secretariat, provided 150 free health insurance slots for NUJ members, demonstrating a commitment to improving healthcare access. Hon.

Akin Rotimi Jr. also pledged support for the program. Additionally, Dr.

Babagana Adam committed to sponsoring 50 additional journalists in memory of his late brother, Moham Alkali. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce the financial burden of healthcare on journalists and encourage them to prioritize their health.
