Easter Attacks in Northern Nigeria Leave 16 Dead

During the Easter weekend, violent attacks across northern Nigeria resulted in at least 16 fatalities and numerous displacements. In Benue State, armed herders invaded the Mbalom and Mbatsada Agana communities in Gwer East Local Government Area, killing at least 10 residents and injuring several others.

Timothy Adi, the chairman of Gwer West Local Government Area, confirmed the attacks and condemned them as unprovoked, urging the federal government to enhance efforts against armed herders. In Kaduna State, terrorists targeted two Christian worship centers in Kachia Local Government Area, resulting in five deaths and the abduction of 31 worshippers.

Mark Bawa, a local councillor, reported that the Nigerian Army later rescued the abducted individuals. In Katsina State, banditry attacks were reported in Tangani Sayaya community, leading to the death of a police officer.

Governor Dikko Radda visited affected areas to assess the damage. In Borno State, Boko Haram attacked Awapul community, causing residents to flee, though no casualties were reported.
