Easter Violence Claims 16 Lives in Benue and Kaduna

During the Easter celebrations, at least 16 individuals were killed in violent incidents across Benue and Kaduna States. In Benue State, nine residents of the Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area were killed when suspected armed herdsmen attacked early on Sunday, setting homes and a local market ablaze.

The local government chairman, Mr. Austin Awua, confirmed the attack, and Governor Hyacinth Alia condemned the violence as barbaric and a direct threat to peace in the state.

In Kaduna State, terrorists targeted two Christian worship centers in Ariko, Kachia Local Government Area, resulting in the deaths of at least seven people and the abduction of several others during Easter services. The Nigerian Army intervened, rescuing 31 abducted worshippers and recovering five bodies.

The ongoing violence underscores persistent security challenges in both states, prompting calls for stronger security measures to protect lives and property.
