Five Killed in Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway Crash

A tragic accident occurred on the Abeokuta-Lagos expressway at approximately 11:12 AM, resulting in the deaths of five individuals, including two children and three adults. The crash involved a white Mazda E2000 with registration number KRD 809 XC, which was carrying 20 passengers, comprising six adult males, eleven adult females, one male child, and two female children.

According to Odunsi Afolabi, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Sector Command, the fatalities included one adult male, two adult females, one male child, and one female child. Ten other individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries, while five escaped unhurt.

The FRSC rescue operation arrived at the scene within five minutes, at 11:20 AM. Preliminary investigations indicated that the probable causes of the crash were excess speed and overload, compounded by cloudy weather conditions at the time.

The deceased were taken to the general hospital morgue in Ifo, while the injured were transported to Oreof Specialist Hospital for treatment. Oludar Ogunjobi, the FRSC Ogun State Sector Command, expressed condolences to the victims' families and urged motorists to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially during festive periods.
