Ten Dead, Six Injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Crash

A tragic accident occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway at Sapaad Bridge around 8:05 PM, resulting in the deaths of ten individuals and injuries to six others. The crash involved a white Sinotruk truck with an unknown registration number and a white Toyota Hiace bus marked EKI 290 YM.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun Sector Command confirmed the incident in a late-night statement signed by spokesperson Afolabi Odunsi. Preliminary investigations revealed that the crash was caused by speed violations and dangerous driving, with the truck driver reportedly reversing on the highway at high speed.

A total of 18 people were involved in the accident, including 15 adult males, 2 adult females, and 1 male child. The deceased included 9 adult males and 1 male child.

The FRSC promptly arrived at the scene to evacuate the injured victims to a hospital in Oger for medical treatment, while the deceased were deposited at a mortuary in Ipara. The Ogun Sector Command's Oludar Ogunjobi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and warned motorists, especially commercial drivers, against reckless driving.
