Bandit Attack in Plateau State Leaves Three Dead

On February 16, a violent attack by heavily armed assailants, reportedly Fulani militia, occurred in Garga Community, located in Kanam Local Government Area, Plateau State. The incident, which took place late on a Monday, resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left several others injured.

Reports indicate that approximately 100 armed attackers stormed the community on motorcycles, opening fire indiscriminately, which forced residents to flee to nearby forests for safety. The attackers also set homes ablaze and looted food items and livestock.

Salihu Garga, a community resident, confirmed the attack to the Daily Post, highlighting that such invasions by bandits have become a recurring problem, leaving the community vulnerable to terrorist attacks. The situation in Kanam, particularly in Garga, has become a regular pattern of insecurity, with local vigilante hunters mobilizing to respond to the attacks.

However, many residents remain unaccounted for, raising concerns about their safety.
