Two Killed in Latest Attack on Benue Community

A fresh attack on the Atakpa community in Agatu Local Government Area, Benue State, resulted in the reported deaths of at least two individuals. This incident took place on Monday evening, just 24 hours after another attack in the Edikwu and Ankpa communities, which resulted in 14 fatalities.

Residents have expressed concern over the ongoing violence, noting that attacks have been occurring almost daily for the past three months. A victim, who spoke anonymously, mentioned that they were part of a search team looking for missing persons from the earlier attack.

However, Udem Edet, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state, disputed the casualty figures, stating that no deaths had been recorded and that no one had been killed by stray bullets. She indicated that some individuals are currently receiving treatment and that search operations are ongoing to track the perpetrators of these attacks.
