Two Kidnap Suspects Arrested in Anambra State

Anambra Police Operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested 38-year-old Dauda Mohamed, a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate from Kogi State, during a coordinated operation. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga (SP), announced the arrest in a press statement on August 1st.

Mohamed allegedly confessed to involvement in several kidnapping operations in Anambra, identifying 50-year-old Umar Ali, known as "Barjini," as the gang leader responsible for logistics and weapon supply. The investigation is linked to a kidnapping incident on June 26, 2026, at Divine Heritage Lodge, Ukwulu, where armed assailants abducted a victim and demanded a ransom of thirty million Naira, ultimately receiving fifteen million Naira for the victim's release after four days.

Following information from Mohamed, police arrested Umar Ali in Ugwuoba Gariki, Enugu State. Ikenga assured the public of ongoing efforts to combat crime and urged residents to provide actionable information to assist the police.
