Anambra Police Arrest Two Suspected Kidnappers

The Anambra State Police Command arrested two suspected kidnappers linked to various abductions in the state, including a case involving a ₦15m ransom paid for a victim taken from Divine Heritage Lodge in Ukwulu, Dunukofia Local Government Area. The prime suspect, Dauda Mohamed, aged 38, was apprehended on July 27 following credible intelligence and investigations by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu.

During interrogation, he confessed to participating in several kidnapping operations and identified Umar Ali, aged 50, as the gang leader. The investigation is connected to a kidnapping incident on June 26, 2026, where armed assailants abducted a victim and initially demanded a ₦30m ransom.

The police later arrested Umar Ali in Enugu State based on information from Mohamed. The Anambra State Police Command, represented by spokesperson SP Tochukwu Ikenga, emphasized their commitment to combating crime and ensuring public safety in the region.
