Four Arrested for Kidnapping and Armed Robbery in Anambra

On July 15, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command arrested four suspects involved in separate kidnapping and armed robbery incidents across the state. The arrests were part of an ongoing security review and sustained offensive against violent crime, targeting cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping, homicide, banditry, sexual offenses, and drug-related crimes.

The suspects, identified as Okoy Ibegbunam, Chukwuebuka John Bosco, and others, were apprehended during operations conducted by the Rapid Response Squad in collaboration with the Ogbaru Division Police Headquarters. During the operations, police recovered a locally made pistol, two live rounds of ammunition, and an Itel Android phone containing a photograph of a kidnapping victim.

The suspects allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crimes. Further investigations led to the arrest of three additional suspects on July 16, 2026, who were attempting to abduct a female victim in Ogbaru.

The police successfully intervened, preventing the kidnapping and rescuing the victim.
