APC Dominates Yobe Local Government Elections

In the local government elections held in Yobe State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved a significant victory, winning all 17 chairmanship seats and 176 out of 178 councillorship seats. The results were announced by Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani, the Chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC), on Sunday in Damaturu.

The elections took place across 178 wards and 17 Local Government Areas, with participation from 10 political parties. While the APC dominated the chairmanship elections, the Action Peoples Party (APP) secured one councillorship seat in Fune LGA, and the Action Democratic Party (ADP) won a councillorship seat in Karasuwa LGA.

Dr. Yabani stated that the councillorship results were declared at ward collation centres, while chairmanship results were announced at LGA collation centres before the final results were compiled at the state headquarters. He also acknowledged the late Dr. Mamman Mohammed, his predecessor, by observing a minute of silence.
