Nigeria's Volleyball Team Falls to Morocco, Misses Olympics

Nigeria's men's volleyball team faced Morocco in the quarterfinals of the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship held in Tunisia on September 21. The match ended in a 3-2 defeat for Nigeria, eliminating their hopes of qualifying for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Nigeria won the first set 25-20, but Morocco responded by winning the second and third sets 25-15 and 25-20, respectively. Nigeria managed to win the fourth set 26-24, forcing a deciding fifth set, which Morocco won 15-12.

Following the defeat, head coach Ryan Masajedi praised his players for their fighting spirit and acknowledged the impact of substitutes in the fourth set. He expressed pride in the team's effort and indicated a focus on their next match against Rwanda, scheduled for September 23, in the 5th-9th classification match.
