Nigeria Men's Volleyball Team Finishes Eighth in 2026 Championship

Nigeria's Men's Volleyball Team concluded their campaign at the 2026 CAVB Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship in eighth place after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Ghana in the seventh-place playoff. The tournament saw Nigeria achieve two victories and three defeats, failing to secure a top-three finish necessary for qualification for the 2027 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship.

Nigeria advanced to the quarter-finals but was eliminated by Morocco, who won 3-2. Nigeria won the first set 25-20, but Morocco responded by taking the next two sets.

Nigeria equalized by winning the fourth set 26-24, but Morocco clinched the match with a 15-12 victory in the deciding set. Following this, Nigeria lost 3-1 to Rwanda in the classification bracket before their final defeat to Ghana.

Tunisia emerged as champions, defeating Cameroon 3-0 in the final at El Menzah Sports Palace, securing a place in the men’s volleyball tournament at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
