Nigeria Drawn with Algeria and Chad for Volleyball Championship

Nigeria has been placed in Group C alongside Algeria and Chad for the 2026 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship, which will take place in Tunisia starting on September 15. This tournament also serves as a qualification event for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Ryan Masajedi, the head coach of the Nigeria men’s volleyball team, stated that the team's immediate goal is to secure qualification from the group stage. He cautioned his players against underestimating any opponents, emphasizing that every team will be eager to make a statement.

Masajedi remarked, “The players understand what is at stake, and we’ll approach each game as it comes.” He also called on Nigerians to believe in the team and pray for their success as they embark on their campaign in Tunisia. Nigeria previously finished seventh at the 2021 African Men’s Volleyball Nations Championship held in Rwanda, defeating DR Congo 3-0 in the classification match, but missed the 2023 edition of the competition.
