Nigeria Wins 4 Gold Medals at African Wrestling Championships

On the first day of the 2026 African Wrestling Championships held in Alexandria, Egypt, Nigeria's wrestling team achieved remarkable success by winning four gold medals. The athletes who secured these victories include Esther Kolawol, Hannah Ojo, Christianah OgunSanya, and Jumok Adekoy.

Nigeria's Ambassador to Egypt, Musa Dauda, commended the team's impressive display and highlighted their performance against the host nation. He expressed optimism about Nigeria's prospects of retaining its title, aiming for a 15th African title, particularly in women's wrestling.

The ambassador also acknowledged the support from the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, led by President Bashir Adewal Adeniyi, and emphasized the commitment to athlete welfare. The Nigerian team is expected to continue its strong performance in the upcoming finals, with the ambassador and other officials, including Ishaya Garba Senchi and Aisha Mustapha, present to cheer them on.
