NSC Boosts Performance Bonuses for Team Nigeria Athletes

The National Sports Commission (NSC) announced an increase in performance bonuses and instant rewards for Nigerian athletes competing at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. NSC Chairman, Mallam Shehu Dikko, stated that the new package aims to motivate Team Nigeria.

Gold medal winners will now receive a total of $10,000, which includes a $5,000 cash instant reward and $5,000 deposited directly into their accounts. Silver medalists will earn $5,000 in total, comprising a $2,000 cash reward and $3,000 to their accounts, while bronze medalists will receive $3,000, with $1,000 cash and $2,000 to their accounts.

Dikko noted that this is an increase from the previous structure of $8,000 for gold. All three gold medalists from July 24, 2026, have already received the new amount.

Coaches will receive $5,000 for each gold medal won by their athletes, and athletes are on a daily allowance of $200, while coaches receive $250. The NSC aims to ensure that Team Nigeria is fully supported throughout the Games.
