Maikalangu Re-elected AMAC Chairman in 2023 Polls

On October 7, 2023, Christoph Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was re-elected as the chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC). The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), represented by Prof.

Andrew Abu, announced that Maikalangu received 40,295 votes out of 62,861 valid votes cast. The total number of votes cast was 65,197, with 2,336 votes rejected.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) came in second with 12,109 votes, while the People's Democratic Party (PDP) placed third with 3,398 votes. Gambo Babal, the APC collation agent, described the electoral process as credible and transparent.

The election had a total of 837,338 registered voters, with 65,676 accredited voters participating. Maikalangu expressed hope that his victory would translate into democratic dividends for AMAC residents.
