INEC Awards Certificates to AMAC Chairman and Winners

On Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) presented certificates of return to Christoph Maikalangu, the re-elected chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), and other winners from the February 21 area council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The ceremony took place at the INEC office in Abuja and included six area council chairmen, their deputies, and 62 councillors who emerged victorious in the polls.

Aminu Idri, the FCT Resident Electoral Commissioner, described the exercise as the final stage of a credible and transparent electoral process, congratulating the successful candidates and urging them to fulfill their mandates. Maikalangu expressed gratitude to the electorate and pledged to focus on rural community development.

He emphasized the need for collaboration among political rivals for the progress of the council. The All Progressives Congress (APC) won five out of six chairmanship seats across the area councils in the FCT during the elections.
