Maikalangu Wins 2026 FCT Area Council Election

Hon. Christoph Zakka Maikalangu, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), was declared the winner of the 2026 FCT Area Council election, securing 40,295 votes out of 62,861 valid votes cast.

The election results were announced by Prof. Andrew Abu at the AMAC collating office.

Other candidates included S. Paul Ogidi from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with 12,109 votes, Dantani Zanda from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) with 3,398 votes, Simon Obinna from the Social Democratic Party (SDP) with 2,185 votes, and Jibrin Alhassan from the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) with 1,694 votes.

Maikalangu expressed gratitude to the residents of AMAC and acknowledged the support of Barrister Nyesom Wike, stating that the victory would not have been possible without the minister's efforts. He also praised INEC for conducting a transparent election and emphasized his commitment to enhancing security, infrastructure, healthcare, and education in the community.
