Traders and Riders Defy Movement Order in Dei-Dei Elections

On the day of the council elections, traders, motorcyclists (popularly known as 'okada' riders), and other residents in Dei-Dei, located in the Bwari Local Government Area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), defied a movement restriction order issued by the police. The directive, aimed at ensuring a smooth electoral process, was announced by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Despite the police's instruction for no movement throughout the day, Blueprint NG observed that traders, tricycle operators, and motorcyclists continued their business activities along the Kubwa-Dei-Dei expressway. Security agents were seen blocking roads to enforce the order, but many motorists attempted to navigate around the restrictions.

The situation highlighted the challenges faced in maintaining order during the elections, as businesses remained operational in parts of the area, including the Dei-Dei building materials market, where shops were reportedly locked.
