INEC Releases List of 21 Registered Political Parties in Nigeria for 2027 Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nigeria has unveiled a list of 21 registered political parties in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This announcement came after the registration of two new political parties, the Democrat Leadership Alliance (DLA) and Nigeria Democrat Congress (NDC).

During a meeting in Abuja, INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan confirmed the registration of these parties.

The DLA aims to promote government reform, youth participation, and social development initiatives across Nigeria, focusing on transparency and grassroots mobilization. On the other hand, the NDC, described as a centrist party, emphasizes social justice, equitable resource distribution, and strengthening democratic institutions to provide an alternative platform for dissatisfied Nigerians.

The increase in the number of registered political parties to 21 reflects a growing momentum in constitutional amendments and efforts to restructure the geopolitical landscape.
