INEC Launches Voter Registration in Rivers State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of the third phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in Rivers State, beginning on May 11, 2026. This registration will be available daily from 9 AM to 3 PM at INEC offices located in 23 local government areas of the state.

INEC plans to extend the registration to the ward level on a rotational basis. The exercise is scheduled to conclude on July 10, 2026, and is designed to provide eligible Nigerians who have not yet obtained their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) the opportunity to register.

Additionally, the registration allows for voter transfers and updates to voter information. Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Rivers State, has called for support and cooperation from stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and the media, to ensure a peaceful and seamless electoral process.
