INEC to Start Voter Register Revalidation on April 13

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of a nationwide voter register revalidation exercise starting April 13, 2024, and concluding on May 29, 2026. This initiative aims to remove ineligible entries from the voter register, including deceased individuals, non-Nigerians, underage voters, and those registered multiple times.

INEC clarified that this exercise is not a fresh registration but a part of its ongoing efforts to update, clean, and strengthen the integrity, accuracy, and inclusivity of Nigeria's voter register ahead of future elections. The revalidation will be conducted both online and at designated physical centers across the country, with daily operations scheduled from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, including weekends and public holidays.

Voters can participate online by visiting INEC's portal to create an account and provide their voter identification number and personal details for biometric verification. Those requiring physical revalidation must visit designated INEC centers, where officials will conduct biometric verification and issue updated information slips upon completion.
