FAME Foundation Hosts Women's Football Tournament for 2026

The FAME Foundation is hosting a football tournament featuring 13 women's teams to celebrate the 2026 International Women’s Day. The event will take place in prominent areas of Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria.

The kickoff ceremony will be attended by Hon. Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, the Minister of Women Affairs, who emphasized the government's commitment to collaborating with non-governmental organizations like FAME Foundation to promote gender equality and empower women and girls. Ibrahim highlighted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's serious approach to women's empowerment, stating that the government will continue to support initiatives that benefit women.

Arabirin Aderonk Ogunley-Bello, the Executive Director of FAME Foundation, reiterated the importance of teamwork and inclusivity in the tournament, aiming to bring women together in a friendly environment rather than focusing solely on competition. The event aligns with the government's agenda to prioritize women's issues and social development.
