Dikko Applauds FAME Foundation for Women's Sports in Nigeria

Malam Shehu Dikko, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), commended the FAME Foundation for its advocacy in women's sports during the ninth edition of the International Women's Day Football Tournament held at the Area 3 Playing Ground in Abuja. Dikko acknowledged the vital role women play in sports development and urged sports stakeholders to support initiatives that empower women and increase female participation in sports.

He highlighted the achievements of Nigerian women in sports, including Olympic medals and representation in football and basketball. Rinsola Abiola, the Director General of the Citizenship Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), also praised the FAME Foundation, led by Arabinrin Aderonk, for uniting various groups for the event.

Abiola noted that empowering women requires strategic approaches that go beyond sports, addressing structural barriers to financial opportunities. The event featured 13 teams, including representatives from various organizations, showcasing the unifying power of sports across different societal divides.
