IGP Olatunji Disu Honors Slain Officers on Police Day

On Tuesday, Olatunji Disu, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), paid a heartfelt tribute to slain officers during the 2026 National Police Day ceremony held at Eagle Square in Abuja. In his address, IGP Disu highlighted the day as a moment of truth, honor, and reflection on the sacrifices made by police personnel.

He acknowledged the risks faced by officers, noting that many left home without knowing it would be their last goodbye. Disu emphasized the importance of recognizing the pain and sacrifices of fallen officers and called for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to rise above indiscipline and misconduct that tarnish its image.

He pledged to lead the force in a manner that upholds discipline and accountability, ensuring that every officer serves with dignity. The event featured a march past and tactical displays from various police units and cadets from the police academy, reinforcing the commitment to honor the service and sacrifice of police officers nationwide.
