NFF Launches 2026 Electoral Process in Yenagoa

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially commenced the electoral process for the 2026 elections, announcing that Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, will host an extraordinary general assembly. This assembly, set to take place today, will establish the electoral committee.

The NFF has reported that the assembly will appoint members to the electoral committee and the electoral appeal committee, as well as select an independent auditor to oversee compliance with FIFA and CAF regulations. The NFF conducts elections every four years during its annual general assembly, with the next vote scheduled for September 30, 2022, during the 82nd annual general assembly in Benin City, Edo State.

The extraordinary gathering in Yenagoa will include chairmen and secretaries from Nigeria's 36 state football associations, NFF executive committee members, league officials, coaches, referees, and player associations. Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri is expected to declare the assembly open, with top officials including Shehu Dikko, Bukola Olopade, Abdul Ningi, and Kabiru Amadu scheduled to attend.
