JAMB Pays N1.5bn to CBT Centres for 2026 UTME Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has disclosed that it has paid a total of N1,570,671,200 to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres as registration charges for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This payment is part of an effort to ensure a seamless registration process for candidates, as they are required to remit a registration fee of N700 directly to the CBT centres.

JAMB's initiative aims to prevent exploitation and eliminate the need for candidates to make multiple payments at different points during registration. The board has introduced a cashless policy to strengthen compliance and curb registration infractions.

However, some CBT centres have faced challenges in receiving payments until irregularities are corrected. JAMB remains committed to maintaining transparency and adherence to registration guidelines while continuing to implement additional measures to ensure a smooth registration process.
