JAMB Targets N23.8bn Revenue, Expands UTME Centers

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set a revenue target of N23.8 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, representing a N4 billion increase from its 2025 target. This announcement was made during a presentation to the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund.

Dr. Muftau Bello, the Director of the Office of the Registrar, and Ishaq Oloyed, indicated that JAMB plans to remit N6 billion to the federal account from operational surplus.

The board intends to improve access and logistics for candidates across Nigeria. Muntari Danduts, the committee chair, commended JAMB for its financial performance and operational expansion.

However, Senator Yohanna Amo from Adamawa North urged the board to further reduce the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) fee, which is currently set at N3,500, down from a previous N5,000. The 2026 UTME is scheduled to take place nationwide from April 16 to April 25, 2026, with compliance measures in place to curb examination malpractice.
