Nigeria's Petition Against DR Congo Gains FIFA Support

Nigeria's petition against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) concerning player eligibility for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is reportedly gaining traction as FIFA prepares to announce its verdict. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) filed a petition on December 15, 2025, after Nigeria suffered a significant setback with a 4-3 penalty shootout defeat to DR Congo in the African playoff final on November 4, 2025.

The NFF claims that six Congolese players were ineligible due to alleged illegal switches of allegiance. NFF General Secretary Dr.
