IPI Nigeria to Launch Press Freedom Hub in Abuja

On May 6, 2026, IPI Nigeria will officially open a press freedom hub in Abuja, located along Kado Expressway. This facility will act as the operational base for IPI Nigeria, focusing on defending press freedom and protecting journalists in Nigeria.

Ahm Shekarau, the Secretary of IPI Nigeria, will lead the media advocacy programs aimed at promoting press freedom and safeguarding journalists against threats and censorship. Musikilu Moje, the President of IPI Nigeria, stated that the hub will also serve as a venue for reviewing media freedom and journalist safety, driving policy and legal reforms to strengthen independent journalism and foster dialogue between the media and the government.

IPI Nigeria is affiliated with the global network of the International Press Institute, which has been advocating for press freedom since its founding in 1950. IPI Nigeria was established in 1970 and has been at the forefront of advancing press freedom and promoting journalist safety in the country.
