IPI Nigeria to Launch Press Freedom Hub in Abuja

The International Press Institute (IPI) Nigeria is set to open a new press freedom hub in Abuja on Wednesday, as part of its activities to mark World Press Freedom Day. Ahm Shekarau, the Secretary of IPI Nigeria, disclosed this information in a statement on Monday.

The hub will be located along Kado Expressway in Abuja and will serve as the operational base for IPI Nigeria, focusing on defending press freedom and protecting journalists within the country. Musikilu Moje, the President of IPI Nigeria, stated that the facility will also anchor media advocacy programs aimed at promoting press freedom and safeguarding journalists who face threats and censorship.

The hub will function as a venue for reviewing media freedom, journalist safety, policy legal reforms, and fostering dialogue between the media and government. IPI Nigeria, established in 1970, is part of the IPI Global Network, which comprises editors and media executives from over 100 countries and has been advocating for press freedom for 70 years.
