Enugu State Sets N150m Fee for Election Advertising Permits

The Enugu State government, represented by Franci Aninwik, the General Manager of the Enugu State Signage and Advertising Agency (ENSSAA), has announced that political parties and candidates wishing to participate in the upcoming 2026 local government elections and the 2027 general elections must pay a mandatory fee of N150 million for advertising permits. This requirement was disclosed during a management meeting held on Monday at the agency's headquarters in Enugu.

The permit allows parties and candidates to deploy campaign materials, including banners, vehicles, and handbills, across the state's 17 local government areas. Aninwik emphasized that the fee is payable to the Enugu State government account and is intended to prevent visual pollution and maintain professional standards in outdoor advertising.

He warned that failure to comply would result in legal sanctions, and he reiterated the importance of conducting campaigns responsibly. The agency also clarified that no individual or group could erect billboard advertising structures without proper licensing from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
