Enugu Candidates Face N150m Ad Permit for Elections

The Enugu State Signage and Advertising Agency (ENSSAA), represented by Mr. Franci Aninwik, disclosed during a management meeting that political parties and candidates wishing to participate in the 2026 local government elections and the 2027 general elections are required to pay N150 million for advertising permits.

This fee grants them the right to deploy campaign materials, including banners, vehicles, and other promotional items across the state's 17 local government areas. The agency emphasizes that obtaining this permit is mandatory to maintain an orderly and aesthetically pleasing environment during campaign activities.

Aninwik warned that failure to comply with these regulations could lead to legal sanctions, including the removal of non-compliant campaign materials. Additionally, he clarified that no individual or political group can erect billboard advertising structures without a license from the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).

The agency aims to uphold professional standards in outdoor advertising and protect public infrastructure.
