Abakaliki Communities Back Nwifuru for 2027 Election

On Tuesday, leaders from the host communities of the proposed New Abakaliki Cement Factory declared their support for the Ebonyi State Government and endorsed Governor Francis Nwifuru for the 2027 governorship election. This announcement was made during a press briefing in Abakaliki, following a meeting held on Saturday at the residence of former Senate Leader, Distinguished Senator Obinna Ogba, in Nkalagu.

Representatives from Umuhuali, Nkalaha, Nkalagu, and Amezu communities attended the meeting. The stakeholders praised Governor Nwifuru for his visionary leadership and commitment to revitalizing Ebonyi State’s industrial base through the cement factory initiative.

They noted the governor's inspection of the project site with Chinese contractors and his investment mission to China, which led to the contract award, signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), and mobilization of the contractor for project implementation. The project is seen as a significant industrial initiative that could create thousands of jobs, stimulate commerce, promote technology transfer, and enhance the state's revenue.
