Governor Nwifuru to Launch New Cement Factory in Ebonyi

Governor Nwifuru of Ebonyi State announced plans to establish a new cement factory, following a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Mondai Uzor.

The governor indicated that a Chinese contractor would be conducting a tour of the moribund Nigeria Cement factory in Nkalagu. He noted that the state government has decided to establish a new factory due to the bottlenecks surrounding the reactivation of the old facility.

Preliminary findings suggest that the area has large limestone deposits that could sustain the new company for thirty years once established. Governor Nwifuru emphasized the importance of this project in driving the industrialization vision of his administration.

He also acknowledged the support from stakeholders in the Southeast zone, particularly commending Anambra State's Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his continued interest in reactivating the old Nigeria Cement factory.

The Ebonyi State government has previously allocated a staggering sum of 150 billion naira in the 2026 budget for the establishment of the new cement factory.
