AbdulRazaq's Aide Challenges Claims on Kwara North 2027

Saddiq Buhari, the special adviser on social investment to Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has refuted claims made by Abubakar Olarewaju Suleiman, the Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, regarding the political viability of Kwara North in the upcoming 2027 governorship race. In a recent interview, Suleiman expressed skepticism about Kwara North's chances, suggesting that the region lacks a realistic opportunity to win the governorship election.

Buhari labeled Suleiman's assertions as unfounded and lacking empirical basis, arguing that they ignore historical electoral realities in the state. He referenced past elections, including the 2011 and 2019 governorship elections, to illustrate that electoral success in Kwara transcends regional sentiments.

Buhari emphasized that Kwara North remains a stronghold for the Progress Congress and called for a focus on equitable political representation rather than sympathy-based narratives. He also highlighted that Governor AbdulRazaq secured approximately 60% of the votes in Kwara North during the 2023 elections.
