Obika Explains Shift from Labour Party to NDC

Joshua Chinedu Obika, representing Abuja Municipal Bwari Federal Constituency, has explained his political shift from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and subsequently to the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He defended his decision amidst criticism, stating it was guided by political realities and a commitment to the New Nigeria movement.

Obika attributed his exit from the LP to prolonged internal crises that weakened the party's structure and created uncertainty among its members. He expressed concerns over the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) failure to upload candidates for the area council elections, which deepened worries within the party.

Obika, who had been loyal to former presidential candidate Peter Obi, noted that political dynamics change and emphasized the need for genuine commitment to national development rather than mere party affiliation. He also mentioned several legislative initiatives aimed at addressing challenges in the Federal Capital Territory, including proposals for resettlement and educational support.
