FCT Rep Obika Defects from APC to NDC Ahead of 2027

Obika, a member representing the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). This move comes just two months after the APC's Labour Party (LP) elections held on March 11, 2026.

Obika's decision to switch parties is reportedly motivated by his desire to secure a return ticket for the upcoming 2027 general elections. He had previously sought the APC nomination but was unsuccessful in obtaining the party's ticket to contest for a second term in the House of Representatives.

Following his defection, it is expected that Obika will automatically receive the NDC's ticket for re-election. This development reflects a growing trend of political realignment as politicians across party lines search for viable platforms ahead of the 2027 elections.
