Obika Credits Peter Obi for Joining Nigeria Democratic Congress

Obika, a member representing the Amac/Bwari Federal Constituency, announced his decision to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), attributing this move to the influence of Peter Obi. Despite winning his seat in the 2023 elections on the Labour Party (LP) platform, Obika remains loyal to Obi and believes in his leadership.

He defended his political realignment during a press conference in Abuja, urging opposition politicians to collaborate for future elections. Obika pointed out the ongoing crisis within the LP, which has created uncertainty for candidates across the country, particularly concerning party leadership disputes.

He described his shift to the NDC as ideologically driven and called for opposition parties with similar interests to unite. Additionally, Obika dismissed criticism regarding his political movement and highlighted his legislative activities, which include bills for resettlement compensation for original inhabitants of the FCT and the establishment of a scholarship board for FCT schools.
