FCT Rep. Chinedu Obika Joins Nigeria Democratic Congress

Chinedu Obika, a member of the Federal Capital Territory House of Representatives, has joined the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) due to his loyalty to Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate from the Labour Party (LP). Despite winning his seat on the Labour Party platform, Obika expressed concerns about the internal crises within the LP, which have created uncertainty for its members.

He stated that he would leave the Labour Party unless Peter Obi remained in leadership, highlighting the ongoing leadership tussles and legal battles within the party. Obika emphasized the importance of opposition parties working together for national development and called for unity among politicians across different parties, including the All Progressives Congress and the Grand Alliance.

He also sponsored a bill related to resettlement compensation for original inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory and discussed various constituency projects aimed at empowering women and improving education.
