ADC Urges Candidates to Avoid Violence Ahead of 2027 Elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has directed its governorship candidates to refrain from political violence, hate speech, and other provocations in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This directive was announced by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, following a meeting at the party's national secretariat in Abuja, attended by the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, and the governorship candidates.

Abdullahi stated that the meeting focused on the outcomes of the primaries and the necessity for reconciliation among party members. The ADC plans to establish a National Reconciliation Committee to address disputes arising from the primaries and to unify aggrieved aspirants and their supporters.

Mark emphasized the importance of campaigning on issues rather than resorting to ethnic or religious mobilization, intimidation, or personal attacks. He also directed candidates to incorporate the ADC’s national policy agenda into their campaigns, particularly regarding fuel pricing and living costs, including a proposed fuel subsidy aimed at alleviating burdens on Nigerians.
